Pregnancy Week 19 - It's a boy 🍼💙

Week 19 of Trimester 2. This week we had a Baby Gender Reveal Party. We're having a baby boy 🍼💙

👶🏽 Baby Status: This week baby is the size of a mango (15cm and 240g) and we found out the sex - it's a little baby boy! Things are moving along. Baby's coordination is growing a little more every day as neurons make connections with muscles and provide better motor control. I feel baby move from the inside almost every day now. Though seeing movement or kicks from the outside are very subtle and once every 3 days or so when baby is in the right position. Baby's arms and legs are pretty in proportion to the body now, just in time to start being covered head-to-toe in this waxy-like substance called 'vernix caseosa'. The vernix moisturises his skin while in the womb, protects bub from amniotic fluid, and helps him move down the birth canal when it's time to come into the world.

🤰🏽 Mama's Status: This week we had a little get-together at home with our family for a Baby Gender Reveal Party. Guillaume and I had gone back and forth on whether to find out the gender, whether to announce the gender, and whether to have a gender reveal party. We saw it as an opportunity to celebrate this baby with family and had some visit from Brisbane (around 2hr drive) and Perth (5hr flight). Guillaume's family are based in Paris, France and FaceTimed in too. It was such a beautiful way to celebrate this little boy and share this moment with our families. I was anticipating both a boy and girl - but at the end of the day it doesn't matter so long as baby is healthy. As parents, we agreed that we would not instil any gender stereotypes regardless - so a boy would still wear pink and a girl would still play with trucks! For the actual reveal, we had a vegan cake made and a balloon. It was so emotional and there was so much love. Guillaume and I both got teary. All in all, just knowing the sex makes us feel that much more connected to this little one now.

Weight: +6kg. My drastic weight change in the past 3 weeks has been nothing like I've ever experienced in my life. The most humbling part of this is that it doesn't bother me. The first few kgs of pregnancy were a shock to the system and now I just associate this healthy weight gain with a healthy baby. I am closely monitoring weight, diet and exercise to do my best to stay in a healthy range for me though.

Diet and Cravings: So this week with the party was just a sugar overload! I made everything from scratch so it was vegan (with the exception of the cake). When I cook I taste everything as I go so there was A LOT of cupcake and meringue testing. We also had so much platter food and sweets left over. So yeh, that was basically the diet for a few days of the week... party food. I absolutely notice this in my skin, mood and sleeping patterns. A little reminder that we work best on wholefoods!

Pregnancy Exercises and Yoga: Oh man my meditation this week has been so emotional in the best way possible. I am just so so so happy and grateful. It's overwhelming at times.

Products I'm Loving: This week my product of the week was this vegan baby gender reveal 4-layered vanilla buttercream cake by Cake A Bite Gold Coast. Just sourcing someone to create a vegan cake is not an easy task. So making the cake itself is just amazing! I was so blown away with the presentation and deliciousness.

Self Care Ritual This Week: My self-care ritual this week was the Baby Gender Reveal with family. Creating the time and energy for a party can be exhausting. But there's also the other side of events that include nurturing and nourishing these connections. There's so much love in the practice of connection and it's something I would love to invite a little more of into my life.
