It's week 22. Baby is the size of a bell pepper (28cm!).
👶🏽 Baby Status: This week baby is a big as a red bell pepper (28cm + 0.45kg). Last week baby switched from crown-to-rump measuring to crown-to-heel measuring which is why he is now so big! Little bae is so active and is kicking every hour. Baby's tastebuds are starting to develop more and he is tasting the amniotic fluid each day for nutrition, hydration and to practice swallowing and digesting. The taste of the amniotic fluid differs from day to day depending on what I've eaten too.
🤰🏽 Mama's Status: The last few weeks have been emotional. It's been a whirlwind of an emotional rollercoaster. Some day's I've been feeling super heavy, haven't had a good night's sleep, dealing with pelvic pain, and feeling completely out of control of my body. Other days I find myself crying at the end of a feel-good movie. Or even just feel baby kicking some days makes me teary thinking about how it will feel when I actually hold him. Oh and I had a nightmare this week that we lost the baby and so that midnight cry went on for a few hours too. I have SO MUCH EMOTION. It's insane. I can find humour in it now but it can feel so overwhelming at times. Last week I took a step back from social media and decided not to blog (week 21). Oh man... pregnant life. Aside from the pregnancy bipolar, everything's been cruisy days. I'm no longer sleeping on my back as the weight of baby creates a lot of pressure in the pelvis, spine and can really start to feel it compressing the inferior vena cava. It feels mega uncomfortable.
Diet and Cravings: Vegan Magnums. Like you wouldn't believe!
Pregnancy Exercises and Yoga: Running is no longer a thing - the impact really strains the ligaments so I'm opting for long-distance walks now. Just walking will great my heart rate up and make me sweat!
Products I'm Loving: This week I'm trying out the Write To Me Bump Journal to write down everything that's going on during the week, friends' advice, doctors notes, photos, thoughts, feelings. Just a place to keep everything and reflect back on.
Self Care Ritual This Week: This week I had a pregnancy massage. OMG, it was DIVINE! Mama's highly recommend finding a quality pregnancy masseuse and doing this. The massage table was set up with a pregnancy pillow and it was so nice to relieve pressure on my pelvis and lay on my belly (after 2 months of not laying on my belly).
