The Hidden Pandemic

Feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed? You're not alone. Before the pandemic, anxiety was considered the most common mental health condition in Australia with 1 in 4 people experiencing it. Following the pandemic, it was estimated by researchers from the University of Queensland that anxiety disorders grew by more than 25 per cent worldwide impacting many of us in unprecedented numbers. Though there is a growing awareness around anxiety, we're now living in a world that is more tethered to technology than ever, absorbing information at an unprecedented rate, chronically rest-deprived like never before, and flooded with hormones that cause burnout.

Meet Emma

I'm an international trauma-sensitive yoga teacher (ERYT®500, RPYT®, RCYT®, YACEP®) with over 10 years of experience, a mother to 2 small humans, and the founder of Yogaventures. I've proudly travelled the world leading hundreds of workshops, retreats and trainings in iconic locations like Sydney, London, Paris, Singapore, Thailand, Bali, and Hawaii.

Through my teachings and online presence, I vulnerably share my journey with mental health and passionately inspire balanced, mindful living.

My story first began when I first found yoga in 2012 as a therapy for my anxiety and depression. Following a 5-year vicious cycle of anxiety, depression, numbing, and self-harm, yoga not only saved my life but changed it forever. This practice became the most effective way to interrupt anxious thought patterns, calm my mind, and come back into my body. I learned to calm my nervous system, master my mind, find gratitude in all life's tides, implement mindfulness as a way of life, and most of all find my Dharma (purpose).

If you've followed my journey online, then you know that 2022 was a year of upheaval, heartache, and loss. In the space of a year, I lost my brother to suicide, closed my yoga studio during the pandemic, and separated from my partner at 38 weeks pregnant. It was these deeply-ingrained tools of yoga, meditation, breathwork and mindfulness that kept me grounded and allowed me the space to support myself and my 2-year-old through his anxiety.

These powerful healing tools had changed my quality of life and it's my mission to share them with the world for more happy, healthy, and healed humans.

I hope to see you on the mat.

I can honestly say that yesterday after this workshop was the most relaxed I have been in eight years. I didn’t realise that with a great instructor, a mat and some extra equipment that I would be leaving the room with a strong Epiphany. I love the process we did of talking, listening and understanding stress/anxiety before getting into the practice- because it is crucial to understand what is happening in your body before you try and change anything. I loved learning about aromatherapy and swatching the different senses. I took away so much yesterday and it’s given me another push to keep moving forward. I learnt so much and I highly recommend it.

Emma is so lovely and down to earth, I can't thank her enough for the experience. It's difficult to put it into words, but not only for the yoga practice she led (perfect for beginners but beneficial for all), but also for being so open - sharing her story and experience, genuine and creating a welcoming, supportive space. Her courage, dedication and commitment to not only her own health and wellbeing, but wanting to help others too is just so admirable and inspiring. She is just the most beautiful soul. It's no wonder her workshops sell out, if you have the opportunity to attend one dive in.

Hana

Emma’s workshop exceeded all my expectations, from sharing her story purposefully, cultivating a safe environment, sharing so much mental health knowledge that blew my mind and gave me new tools to take home including specific poses to do on the mat and breathing exercises. I walked in nervous and anxious and by the end of the workshop I felt deeply relaxed and felt great joy and appreciation to my self for attending and Emma for a brilliant and beautiful workshop

Katie

I wish I'd come a lot earlier in my time living with anxiety. I felt instantaneous relief! The highlight for me was hearing Emma's story. I had read about Emma's story but to hear her so bravely talk about it out loud was something else. I could have sat there and listened all day and I could relate in so many ways too. Please come back to Sydney more often!
